About British Carnatic Choir

The British Carnatic Choir  (BCC) was launched by Dr.Chithra Ramakrishnan FRSA, on 12th June 2015 in Great Britain. It is a pioneering attempt to introduce the choral tradition – more prevalent in western classical music – to South Indian Carnatic music. The concept has been widely appreciated and has received the  good wishes of Her Majesty The Queen, the Former Prime Minister, Mr.David Cameron, the Department of Education and several dignitaries from across the country and abroad. We take great pride in our passionate children and young adults who are members of the country’s only Carnatic Choir.British Carnatic Choir

British Carnatic Choir

Over the years since its inception, the BCC has carefully curated and developed its Carnatic Choral repertoire and delivered several performances across the UK. We benefit from the support of eminent Carnatic musicians from across the globe, such as our patron, Guru Neyveli Santhanagopalan. We work closely with academics responsible for music syllabuses at prominent universities, such as our patron, Dr. Tom Williams of Coventry university. We are especially proud of our longstanding relationship with the Birmingham City University and Conservatoire. All the while, our focus has been on encouraging and developing the next generation of musical talent.

The members of the Choir come from different religions, languages and cultural backgrounds and share the passion for singing and performing together.
